Porphant Ouyyanont is Associate Professor of Economics at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Thailand. He obtained his doctorate in Economic History from the University of New England, Australia, and has published widely on Thai Economic History focusing on Bangkok, the village economy, and the Crown Property Bureau in Thailand. His Thai-language publications include The Village Economy in the Central Region of Thailand (2003), The Thai Economy during the Reign of King Prajadhipok (2015), and A Regional Economic History of Thailand (2015). He has been a visiting scholar at Kyoto University Center for Southeast Asian Studies in Japan and the ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute in Singapore (formerly the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies).
